For U.S. 2026 models; checked September 30, 2026. The redesigned Palisade offers gasoline and hybrid powertrains with seven- or eight-passenger layouts. Hyundai publishes 44.2 inches of front legroom, 43.0 inches of second-row legroom and 32.1 inches in the third row for the gasoline model.

Compare the gas and hybrid cabins separately, especially when you're choosing a seating layout. If you're looking at Limited or Calligraphy, also check the vehicle's recall status: Hyundai issued Safety Recall 296 for certain 2026 Palisade and Palisade Hybrid power-seat functions. Don't assume a similar-looking seat has the same equipment or recall history.

2026 Palisade interior dimensions

Published measurement Gasoline Hybrid
Front legroom 44.2 in 44.2 in
Second-row legroom 43.0 in 41.4 in
Third-row legroom 32.1 in 32.1 in

These are Hyundai's U.S. 2026 published figures, as checked against its gas and hybrid comparison tables. Start from the year-specific 2026 Palisade page and 2026 Palisade Hybrid page when reviewing a configuration: the general model selector can advance to a newer year.

The hybrid's second-row figure is different enough that it should not be hidden under a generic "Palisade" label. If row-two room is critical, sit in the exact powertrain you intend to buy.

For the gasoline model, Hyundai lists front/second/third-row headroom of 41.5/40.7/37.8 inches on SE and 40.1/40.0/37.7 inches on the other grades in the table checked. Compare the exact roof configuration if head clearance is close; the third-row legroom number alone cannot answer that question.

Seven seats versus eight seats

Hyundai offers both second-row bench and captain's-chair layouts depending on trim. Eight-passenger capacity is useful when you need three positions in row two; seven-seat captain's-chair layouts make the center path to row three easier.

Test the second row with your real passenger mix. A rear-facing restraint can force the front seat forward, and a large forward-facing restraint can block the fold/slide motion used for third-row access. Do not infer fit from the seating-capacity number alone.

For adult passengers, set the front seats first and leave them there. Then evaluate the second row and finally the third row. This preserves the tradeoff instead of making each row look generous in isolation.

Power-seat Recall 296: check the VIN and remedy status

Hyundai says certain 2026 Palisade and Palisade Hybrid Limited and Calligraphy vehicles are affected by Safety Recall 296 involving second- and third-row power seat operation. Hyundai's remedy is a software update that can be completed over the air or by an authorized dealer.

Before relying on powered folding/stowing during a purchase demonstration, check the VIN and confirm the recall remedy is complete. Hyundai's Recall 296 information page explains the updated operation, including press-and-hold requirements and changes to seat-stow controls.

This is separate from ordinary feature preference. An affected vehicle should be judged after the recall remedy has been completed and the updated seat behavior is understood.

Third-row use: test access, not only 32.1 inches

Hyundai publishes 32.1 inches of third-row legroom. The number is a useful reference, but it does not capture foot space, cushion height, roof shape or the path into the seat.

Have the intended passenger enter with the second row in its normal position. Check whether the second-row occupant has to give up too much space, whether the third-row passenger can buckle comfortably, and whether the exit sequence works in a parking space.

If the third row will be used daily, repeat the test with bags in the cargo area because the loading plan and seat-folding plan interact.

Materials, seat functions and trim choices

The Calligraphy reference pictured above uses brown Nappa upholstery. Relaxation seating is a reason to investigate Calligraphy specifically, rather than assuming every upper trim includes the same seat functions. Compare the material and seat controls on the exact vehicle before treating a gallery image as its equipment list.

Do not pay for a feature because it sounds premium in a brochure. Put the actual passenger in the seat and operate the feature. For a second-row relaxation function, check that it does not interfere with child-seat use or the space required by a third-row passenger.

Gas versus hybrid cabin decision

The gasoline and hybrid Palisades have different powertrains, fuel-economy targets and some different dimensional fields. Hyundai lists 287 horsepower for the gasoline V6 and 329 horsepower for the hybrid system.

Choose the powertrain before comparing upper-trim interiors. Otherwise you can accidentally compare a gas trim and hybrid trim that differ in both drivetrain and cabin specification and attribute every difference to the trim badge.

Cabin space versus cargo volume

Hyundai publishes 19.1 cubic feet behind the third row, 46.3 cubic feet behind the second row and 86.7 cubic feet maximum for the gasoline Palisade. Those volume figures are useful for comparing general capacity but do not prove a rigid object will fit through the hatch.

If all three rows are occupied, the behind-third-row number is the relevant starting point. A maximum number with the rear rows folded is not your road-trip cargo capacity when seven people are aboard.

Our cabin-first recommendation is to begin with the seven- or eight-seat layout your family needs, then choose gas or hybrid after testing row two with the same front-seat position. Spend on upper-grade seat features when the passengers who use them find a clear benefit. The three-row SUV guide provides alternatives if the access or cargo arrangement fails that test.
