For U.S. 2027 gasoline models; checked September 30, 2026. The separately introduced Rogue Hybrid is outside this cabin guide's scope.
The gasoline Nissan Rogue interior is a five-seat, two-row cabin. Its most useful shopping distinctions are the roof configuration, upholstery and dashboard equipment—not an extra passenger row. Nissan publishes 41.5 inches of front legroom and 38.5 inches in the rear, but a moonroof reduces the listed headroom in both rows.
Sit in the driver's seat, get comfortable, then ask your usual rear passenger to try the space behind you. Do that before choosing a trim: nicer upholstery and a bigger screen won't fix cramped knees or limited headroom. The dimensions below come from Nissan; our advice explains how to use them. We haven't physically measured or tested this cabin.
Rogue interior dimensions: the useful numbers
| Manufacturer measurement | Front row | Rear row |
|---|---|---|
| Legroom | 41.5 in | 38.5 in |
| Headroom without moonroof | 41.1 in | 39.2 in |
| Headroom with moonroof | 39.2 in | 37.8 in |
| Shoulder room | 57.1 in | 55.9 in |
| Hip room | 54.1 in | 53.4 in |
Front legroom is not the space left behind a tall driver's chosen seat position. Likewise, rear shoulder room does not prove three child restraints will fit across the bench. Seat shape, buckle locations, restraint width and the front seat's adjustment all influence the usable result.
The table is best used to decide what to test. If you are near a headroom limit, inspect the roof. If two adults often sit behind tall front occupants, test those positions simultaneously. A successful solo front-seat demonstration is only half of that use case.
Moonroof or solid roof: a meaningful tall-driver choice
The roof-related difference is large enough that it should not be buried under a trim's luxury description. Choose the exact roof configuration before declaring a Rogue comfortable for a tall driver or rear passenger.
During the test sit, adjust the seat for a sustainable driving position: knees comfortably bent, pedals reachable and shoulders relaxed with hands on the wheel. Then check the space above your head and how close your temple sits to the door-side roof edge. Do not lower the seat solely to pass a headroom test if doing so compromises visibility or support.
Repeat the check in the rear. A passenger with a long torso may react differently from someone of the same overall height with longer legs. There is no defensible height cutoff that this table alone can establish.
If you enjoy an open-feeling cabin, try the roof shade both open and closed. The visual effect of glass and the physical headroom figure answer different questions; one should not be used as proof of the other.
Interior colors and seat materials by trim
| 2027 gasoline grade | Listed interior choices |
|---|---|
| S | Charcoal cloth |
| SV | Charcoal premium cloth |
| Dark Armor | Charcoal or light gray Prima-Tex |
| Rock Creek | Charcoal leatherette |
| Platinum | Charcoal or chestnut quilted semi-aniline leather-appointed |
Use Nissan's official interior gallery to see the actual design and manufacturer color labels. Confirm the selected vehicle's interior code; a gallery view does not guarantee every exterior/interior combination is in local inventory.
The surface choice is personal rather than a simple good-to-best ladder. Cloth may be the material you prefer; a synthetic surface may suit your cleaning routine; an upper-grade finish may matter most to someone who spends long hours in the driver's seat. This guide has not tested heat retention, stain resistance or long-term wear for these materials.
Inspect the exact shade in daylight and shade, not only under showroom lighting. Bring the items likely to live in the cabin—work bag, pet cover or child-seat protector—and consider whether their appearance and handling suit the seat finish. Follow the seat and child-restraint manufacturers' instructions before adding covers or protective accessories.
Screens and controls: evaluate the workflow
Nissan's selected-grade comparison lists 8-inch center screens for SV, Dark Armor and Rock Creek, and a 12.3-inch screen with Google built-in for Platinum. The rear seat is a reclining 60/40-split bench. Equipment and package details should be checked in the official trim matrix.
The useful question is not simply which display is larger. Can you change the temperature, find your destination and return to audio without hunting? Try the controls while parked with your own phone connected. Check whether a charging cable interferes with the space where you place a phone or small bag.
Ask the dealer to distinguish ordinary smartphone connection from built-in connected services, and to identify any trial periods or recurring charges. A working showroom account is not proof that every function remains free for your ownership period.
For a shared vehicle, test how quickly a second driver can set the seat, mirrors and phone connection. Routine usability often matters more than how impressive a screen looks in a promotional photograph.
Rear-seat comfort and child-seat access
Nissan describes rear doors that open to nearly 90 degrees in the press kit. That is potentially useful access geometry, but it is not a measurement of the space available beside a parked car. A narrow garage bay can still prevent you from opening the door fully.
Test access in the situation that matters to you. With a rear-facing child seat, position the front occupant properly, install the restraint according to both manuals, then check the usable front-seat position again. For an older passenger, examine the step into the cabin, head clearance through the door and reach to the belt buckle.
Do not infer a safe three-across installation from the shoulder-room number. Three restraints can fail to fit because of their shape or anchor/buckle placement even when their nominal widths appear to add up. A correct installation needs direct verification, not arithmetic alone.
If the middle rear seat will be used regularly, have its intended occupant sit there with both outboard positions occupied. Check shoulder contact, foot placement and belt comfort. A bench marketed for three people is not the same as three equally comfortable individual seats.
Cabin space is not cargo fit
Folding the rear seat changes the load arrangement, but passenger dimensions cannot tell you whether a particular crate, wheelchair or stroller will pass through the hatch. Use the Rogue cargo dimensions article for its stated year and measurement basis, then confirm any unresolved dimensions on the actual vehicle.
Plan around the seats you must keep occupied. A household carrying a rear passenger cannot use a fully folded rear bench as its everyday cargo configuration. Try the necessary split arrangement with your real load, and do not let unsecured cargo occupy a passenger seat or obstruct visibility.
Our cargo-fit tool can organize a dimensional comparison, but a calculation with missing or different-year measurements is not a guaranteed result. Read the measurement method before treating any fit estimate as confirmed.
Which Rogue interior should you shortlist?
Start with SV if you want to investigate a practical cabin without immediately paying for the flagship. Inspect Dark Armor if its material and roof combination appeals to you, but compare headroom first. Consider Platinum when its specific technology and seat finish are valuable to you together.
Rock Creek should not be selected solely because you expect it to be the most luxurious cabin. Its overall specification targets a different use case. See the 2027 Rogue trim-level guide for the lineup, prices and package decisions.
Whichever grade you prefer, put front and rear occupants in the car at the same time before signing. This is the quickest way to expose a compromise that a favorable dimension or gallery image can hide.
Frequently asked questions
Does the gasoline Nissan Rogue have a third row?
No. The U.S. 2027 gasoline Rogue in this guide seats five in two rows.
Does the moonroof change Rogue headroom?
Yes. Nissan publishes different front and rear headroom figures for moonroof and non-moonroof configurations, shown in the table above.
Which Rogue trim has the largest center screen in this comparison?
Platinum, with a listed 12.3-inch screen. The selected SV, Dark Armor and Rock Creek grades list 8-inch screens.
Are these measurements also for the Rogue Hybrid?
No. The hybrid is a separate model specification. This article does not transfer the gasoline cabin's dimensions or equipment to it.
