For U.S. shoppers; Honda sources read November 4, 2026, CR-V profile figures from SUVLook's September 23, 2026 update. Short answer: Honda does not list a hybrid Passport. The 2026 Passport has a gasoline V6 only, and the refreshed 2027 model Honda announced in September also uses V6 power.
If you searched for a Honda Passport hybrid, you are probably weighing fuel economy against the Passport's size. This guide shows what Honda actually publishes for the Passport's engine and mileage, which Honda SUVs do come as hybrids, and how the numbers compare. It does not speculate about future models.
Does the 2026 Honda Passport have a hybrid?
No. Honda's 2026 Passport specifications list one engine for every trim: a V6 making 285 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and 262 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission with shift-by-wire and paddle shifters. The recommended fuel is regular unleaded. No hybrid, plug-in or electric version appears on that page.
Honda's own official pages for the refreshed 2027 model say the same thing. The September 29, 2026 arrival announcement describes the 2027 Passport as packed with standard equipment "including V6 power and torque-vectoring i-VTM4 all-wheel drive". The company's list of hybrid-electric models in the same release's boilerplate names the Accord, CR-V, Civic and Prelude, not the Passport. A second Honda release on the 2027 TrailSport likewise mentions only the 3.5-liter V6 and lists the same hybrid models.
Honda's automobiles.honda.com Passport page returned a 403 error when SUVLook tried to read it automatically, so this guide relies on the two Honda newsroom releases and the Honda Information Center specification page above.
2026 Passport powertrain and published mileage
| 2026 Passport specification | Honda-listed value |
|---|---|
| Engine | V6 |
| Horsepower (SAE net) | 285 at 6,100 rpm |
| Torque (SAE net) | 262 lb-ft at 5,000 rpm |
| Transmission | 10-speed automatic with paddle shifters |
| EPA mpg, RTL / RTL Towing / RTL Blackout | 19 city / 25 highway / 21 combined |
| EPA mpg, TrailSport, TrailSport Blackout, TrailSport Elite, TrailSport Elite Blackout | 18 city / 23 highway / 20 combined |
| Towing capacity | 5,000 lb (listed for all trims) |
| Fuel | Regular unleaded |
The 2027 release lists EPA ratings that range from 18/22/20 to 19/25/21 mpg (city/highway/combined) depending on trim, and Honda notes they are for comparison purposes only. That means the 2027 model's range is close to the 2026 figures, but the two model years should be compared trim by trim, not assumed identical. SUVLook's Passport trim levels guide covers the 2027 versus 2026 differences.
The Honda hybrid SUVs you can actually buy
The Honda SUV with a hybrid system is the CR-V. SUVLook's 2026 Honda CR-V profile, which cites Honda's CR-V pages, lists a two-motor hybrid with 204 horsepower of total system output, alongside a 190-horsepower 1.5-liter turbocharged gas engine. Hybrid trims start with the Sport Hybrid at $35,630 before destination; the profile also lists Sport-L Hybrid at $38,725, TrailSport Hybrid at $38,800 and Sport Touring Hybrid at $42,550.
Honda's Information Center lists these EPA ratings for the 2026 CR-V hybrid (source):
| 2026 CR-V trim | 2WD (city / highway / combined) | AWD (city / highway / combined) |
|---|---|---|
| Sport Hybrid | 43 / 36 / 40 | 40 / 34 / 37 |
| Sport-L Hybrid | 43 / 36 / 40 | 40 / 34 / 37 |
| TrailSport Hybrid | Not listed | 38 / 33 / 35 |
| Sport Touring Hybrid | Not listed | 40 / 34 / 37 |
The gas CR-V (LX, EX and EX-L) is listed at 28/33/30 mpg 2WD and 27/31/29 mpg AWD on the same page. The hybrid system output on that page is 204 horsepower, made up of a 145-horsepower engine and a 181-horsepower traction motor.
Honda's boilerplate in its 2027 Passport releases also names the Accord, Civic and Prelude as hybrid-electric models. This guide does not cover their figures because they are cars, not SUVs.
Passport MPG versus the CR-V hybrid
The mileage gap is large, but so is the size gap. Using only the Honda-published combined ratings above:
| Comparison | Passport | CR-V Hybrid | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| RTL vs Sport Hybrid 2WD | 21 mpg | 40 mpg | 19 mpg |
| RTL vs Sport Hybrid AWD | 21 mpg | 37 mpg | 16 mpg |
| TrailSport vs TrailSport Hybrid | 20 mpg | 35 mpg | 15 mpg |
These differences are subtraction of Honda's published combined mpg values; they are not a fuel-cost estimate. What you pay depends on how many miles you drive and local fuel prices, so use the EPA label for the exact vehicle.
A hybrid CR-V lowers fuel use, but it is a smaller vehicle. The profile lists the CR-V as a five-seat SUV with 36.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats in hybrid form and 71.8 cubic feet maximum (39.3 and 76.5 cubic feet for the gas CR-V). Its rated towing is also lower: 1,000 pounds for the hybrid and 1,500 pounds for the gas model, compared with the Passport's 5,000 pounds. For the Passport's own space figures, see SUVLook's Passport cargo dimensions and Passport interior guides.
Which one fits which buyer?
Choose the Passport if you need more towing (5,000 pounds listed) or a larger cabin and are comfortable with a V6 at about 20 to 21 mpg combined. Choose a CR-V Hybrid if fuel economy is the priority and you do not tow much beyond 1,000 pounds. If you need a third row and Honda's gas V6 power, the Pilot is the SUV to consider; see SUVLook's Passport vs Pilot comparison.
If you want a hybrid and a bigger vehicle than the CR-V, the hybrid choices from other brands are outside this guide's Honda-only scope. For the compact segment, SUVLook has a head-to-head Honda CR-V vs Toyota RAV4 page, which covers both hybrid versions.
What about a future Passport hybrid?
SUVLook found no Honda announcement of a hybrid Passport in the official sources read for this guide, including the two newsroom releases on the 2027 Passport. Without an official statement, treat any claim of an upcoming hybrid Passport as unconfirmed. If Honda announces one, it will appear in Honda's newsroom at hondanews.com.
